those billboards aren't for everybody to see, they're for the city gov't to see so they can be edged to MPA compliance. additionally, it shows the dues paying members that their dues aren't being wasted and their leaders are doing something. although it amounts to nothing.
it's an easy item to point to by the MPA leaders and say; we're working on it.
yet another classic example of dues paying members being hustled by dues taking leaders.
sorta like the taxpayers being hustled by the tax getters........
Cohn will do or say almost anything to attract any media possible to himself. His pack mentality voters expect that. What the voters should consider doing is electing new blood and rid themselves of the SOS.
Well, it doesn't take long for the discussion to focus on the intended results by the de-annexation coup. 'look over there and don't watch what we are doing and have done'.
The city annexed for tax revs, not to improve services. The facts are; Memphis needed and needs the money for bloated retirement issues, lack of ample contributions to fulfill those promises and avoid increasing the taxes on the same residents that supported their relief by sharing their burden with county residents that were perfectly happy without city services. I was one. Thanks to annexation and politicians, our taxes doubled, the county officers was replaced by city officers, crime increased, services were reduced to city level mundane, property valued dropped, education system was devalued to MSC level, riff-raff increased, businesses fled, residents fled and pre-annex Memphis city tax payers were happy they dodged another tax hike bullet.
Remember when GW Bush rolled back the clinton tax hike.....? Almost every city, county and state went up on taxes that year or the next. We get a cut from the Fed and an increase from the local governments.
I strongly encourage you to 'follow the money' as it pertains to the pensions of Memphis City, Shelby County and Tennessee State government. Issuing debt quietly to service pensions in lieu of addressing the problem of inflated salaries and pensions. Politicians seeking votes by campaign promises is the problem here and most cities that think inside the political vote buying box.
"Knock, knock.... we're with the city gov't and we're here to help".
Run Forest run!
Sounds like somebody got his tea changed. Or maybe one too many participation trophies.
Less than a week is right.... is that what you call giving a Leader a chance? Your guy had 8 long years and we got what we got. Give Trump at least a couple of years before you brand him. You read like you have the same attitude as the last & worst administration in US history. Enjoy the relief of oppression.
Cohen is the dark age. But he likes to look busy, thus creating the illusion that he is actually doing something.... and he is; just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
BTW, have you tried to UNSUBSCRIBE from his email blather....IMPOSSIBLE.
I like what King Willie had to say because he is right. I heard a speaker once that said;
we don't have bad kids, what we have are bad parents....?
More than likely, the thugs in Memphis, have no parents, criminal parents, or worthless people as parents.
Cohen isn't going to rock the boat that floats his reelection... he said he wouldn't run a race he couldn't win. Therefore, expect nothing from cohen but more warm moist air blown on the faces of his voters like he has always done. The 9th needs to look beyond his smoke & mirrors into the future and figure out what they want.... A real leader that addresses the issues with facts and action or more of that warm moist air in their faces.
Cohen is simply attracting attention to himself so his constituents get to see him in the media.... That's all. Simply pandering to his voters. Cohen and Lewis have the same motive; keep the voters happy by saying and doing what they want them to do as their representative..... Right or wrong, good or bad makes no diff to a politician, reelection does.
Therefore, those protesting this event are just doing the same old thing they have always done.... And everyone knows they will keep getting what they have always got. Reelected.
However, the 'old time live in the past, keep the wound bleeding' crowd is growing smaller. As they decline by death and education, political figures like these will fade away as well. Just like Jessie 'shake-down' Jackson....
