Bryan Hartley

When: Sat., March 27, 8 p.m. 2010
Local songwriter Bryan Hartley is best known as the frontman for the short-lived but excellent band Halfacre Gunroom a few years ago. Since releasing his solo debut, Confidential, in 2007, Hartley has kept a low profile. But, back in Memphis after a Nashville sojourn, Hartley is poking his head back up with the release of a new four-song, 20-minute EP, A Version of the Future. A talented songwriter in the alt-country/folk vein, Hartley is in good form with A Version of the Future, backed by drummer Jessica Jones and guitarist/bass player John Paul Shaffer. Hartley will be accompanied by Shaffer when he plays Otherlands Coffee Bar Saturday, March 27th. Also on the bill are Tennessee Pines, a new local band featuring members of the Harmony Brothers and former Reigning Sound bassist Jeremy Scott in a solo set. Showtime is 8 p.m. — Chris Herrington
