This website offers a fascinating map of the United States that charts the month by month transition of red states to blue since the 2004 presidential election. Tennessee, for example, has gone from 14 percent approval for President Bush to a negative 23 percent.

    The inimitable Gadfly has returned – this time to tell us that we’ve been suckered once more by the unholy combination of Big Oil and Little W. The FTC earlier this week “found no anti-competitive, collusive or manipulative activity by the oil companies in the runup of gasoline prices following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.”

    Barely controlling his outrage, the Gadfly says: “The FTC has succeeded in telling the American public that, when it comes to gasoline pricing, if something looks like gouging, feels like gouging, and acts like gouging, it isn't gouging.” For more, go here.
