Cotton Museum All-Day History Event 

When: Sat., June 5, 9:30 a.m. 2010
Price: $10 adults/$9.50 seniors/$8 children 6 to 12/free to children under 6
A day of talks and tours surrounding the history of cotton. Local historian Jimmy Ogle leads a tour down Front Street to Confederate Park, covering the Civil War years to the present day. Also on the roster: Robert Connolly, director of the C.H. Nash Museum at Chucalissa, who’ll talk about the Native American influence on the area; Bob Acree, a retired cotton broker, who saw action on “Cotton Row”; and Graham Perry, a curator at the Tennessee State Museum, who’ll discuss the civil rights protests and ties to the Delta cotton fields.
