Double-A Vision 

What are fans of the Memphis Redbirds to do, considering the dearth of talent taking the field at AutoZone Park these days? They might start shifting their gaze northwest, to Springfield, Missouri, home of the Double-A Springfield Cardinals. If the downward spiral continues for the Redbirds, look for some younger talent — particularly of the pitching variety — to start making the drive south to Memphis.   • Redbirds Still Haven't Won a Game.

    We ran the above headline as a joke after the Redbirds' season-opening loss last Friday. It was funny then (sort of). Now, not so much.

    After Monday night’s loss in New Orleans, the Redbirds are the only winless team left in the Pacific Coast League. Their 0-5 start is the worst in franchise history. Read a report of the 16-inning battle with the Zephyrs here.
