EARLY EDITION

Shortly after Mike Matthews recent informative report on rain and chicks flicks,, Channel 3 news ran a regular segment in which they shamelessly hock newspapers, er, um, we mean inform their viewers by telling them what s going to be in the CA s headlines the next morning. One ominous item they pitched involved MURDER and MISSING PERSONS at the Memphis Black Repertory Theatre. It all sounded very grisly and mysterious, to be sure. Of course, they failed to note that nobody had actually been killed. Murder was being used responsibly by CA reporter Christopher Blank as a metaphor for (irony of ironies) the mishandling of information. The missing person in question is the company s recently deposed artistic director, Harry Bryce, who is currently missing from Memphis because he is, as reported in this paper, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Of course, murderous headlines sell more papers, er, um, we mean inform more viewers than a bunch of boring old facts
