Fly on The Wall

At the Movies

Who could have guessed that Memphis Grizzlies wing man Tony Allen could have so much in common with Roger Ebert? Not only are both men prolific users of social media, it turns out Allen is something of a film critic. Like the 3D-hating Ebert, he's not at all excited about George Lucas' extra-dimensional relaunch of the Star Wars franchise. The tweet in question:

So what sort of movies does Allen dig? Films about anchorman Ron Burgundy, apparently.

Male Enhancement

Former Memphis Tigers basketball player Roburt Sallie isn't the first professional athlete to come under fire for using performance-enhancing drugs. But he may well be the first pro to lose his gig because he wanted a little pharmacological help in the sack. According to various reports, Sallie was cut from his Spanish basketball league for taking penis enlargement drugs. Deadspin.com clarifies "to straighten out what must be a really hard situation for him. Sallie said he did not take penis enlargement pills, as the team claimed, but rather sexual potency pills."

Irony Alert

Tennessee's Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey thinks the Occupy Nashville campsite is a disgrace and said so in an open letter to Tennesseans. An excerpt: "It saddens me because every year students from Tennessee schools visit our state capitol to learn about their government. ...This year my advice to teachers looking to bring students here would be simple: Stay home. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend the capitol as a class trip destination at this time. I'm embarrassed to say it, but it is the truth."  And, original complaints not withstanding, what occupier would disagree?
