Fly on the Wall

Oh Brother!

Your Pesky Fly is a bit of a theater buff and as such, this is the best news he's heard in a month of Tennessee legislative sessions. The one and only Senator Stacey Campfield is getting his own musical! Nashville's Music City Theatre Company is producing Casey Stampfield: The Musical, a fantasia of song and dance inspired by the clown prince of Tennessee conservatism. I'm looking forward to hearing all of Campfield's biggest hits: "It Was One Guy Screwing a Monkey," "Don't Say Gay," "Shuck & Jive," and "Slow Train to Auschwitz." I'm even more excited by the big "Sex Week" dance break. Okay, I made those song titles up, but interested parties can check out the real thing when Casey Stampfield: The Musical debuts June 27th at Vibe Entertainment Complex on Church Street. It runs through July 12th.

Eating Elvis

The only thing better than an Elvis-themed menu is the Hindi-to-English translation of an NDTV report about an Elvis-themed menu: "'Lonesome tonight' or not, if you are in for 'a little less conversation' and appetizing American cuisine, head to the capital-based multi-cuisine restaurant, Life Caffe of Hotel Corus, that will take you back in time to when Elvis Presley, the undisputed king of rock and roll, ruled supreme."

The special menu is called "Presley on Platter" and was created because Life Caffe "wanted to connect with the youth of today and those of yesteryears."

Week in Derp

You know the old saying: The family that vandalizes together, scandalizes together. A pair of West Memphis women, Rose Friddle and Jessica May Lapradd, were charged with felony criminal mischief for vandalizing a new memorial for fallen police officers while their children threw rocks at it. Friddle even memorialized herself by etching her name into the marker.
