friday, 10

Tonight s art openings are at: Lisa Kurts Gallery for Eventually, paintings by Peter Opheim; Christian Brothers University s University Gallery for The Art of Remi Miller ; Memphis Botanic Garden for the Memphis/Germantown Art League Juried Exhibition; and at Painted Planet Artspace (located in Strings & Things) for The Big Flash, an exhibition of works by 12 photographers. At Circuit Playhouse, it s opening night of A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline (which begs the question: How did those filmmakers know that Patsy screamed Charlie! just seconds before her plane smashed into the side of a mountain and exploded?). An Evening with David Ives, short plays by the award-winning playwright, opens tonight at Next Stage at Theatre Memphis. Down in Tunica, Lou Rawls is at the Gold Strike Casino, while the Blue Collar Comedy Tour with Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall is at the Horseshoe. And here at home,Big Silver is at The Lounge tonight. Papa Top s West Coast Turnaround is at Murphy s. And last but certainly not least, there s a West Memphis Three Defense Benefit featuring The Reigning Sound, The Subteens, and Ben Nichols. Maybe someday the Three will get a fair trial that involves full sets of teeth.
