Tonight s art openings are at: Second Floor Contemporary Art Gallery for It s Hard to Swim With All This Armor On, paintings and drawings by Brian Sharp; Jack Robinson Photography Gallery for Photo Memphis: an Exhibit of Memphis Photographers, including photos by Larry McPherson, Jack Kenner, Murray Riss, Lawrence Jasud, and Hallie Charney; and Rhodes College s Clough-Hanson Gallery for work by digital artist John Haddock. Tonight and tomorrow night at Jay Etkin Gallery, there s a special dance performance; Beginner s Mind: New Year, New Dance features improvisational dances to drums and trumpet. On stage, it s opening night of The Spitfire Grill at Circuit Playhouse, the story of a young woman who livens up a dead small town; and Not a Day Goes By at The Orpheum, starring Memphian American Idol star Trenyce. The Kirk Smithart Band is at the Full Moon Club tonight. Snowglobe, Jetpack, and The Features are at Young Avenue Deli. And, as always, The Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge.
