Griz Lose Opener in Three OTs. 

Quentin Richardson scored a game-high 31 points, hitting a pair of free throws with 11.9 seconds left in the third overtime to give the New York Knicks a 118-117 win over the Grizzlies in the season opener for both teams.

Chucky Atkins had 25 points and Hakim Warrick had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Grizzlies. Rookie Rudy Gay added 21 points and Mike Miller had 18 points for Memphis, which began its comeback early in the fourth quarter.

    A huge group of writers was gathered around rookie DeAngelo Williams' locker Wednesday. We pick up the conversation in mid-sentence.

    "It's not a dark side," he's insisting. "My top five movies of all time would probably be, um, at No. 1 would be the remake of the 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre.' Okay, at Number 2 and 3 would be 'Saw 1 and 2.' But coming in at 4 would be 'The Butterfly Effect.' That's really good, just the concept. At No. 5 is 'Shrek 2.' What's so funny?     Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams sprained his ankle on his first play Sunday and will be out indefinitely. An injury report on the former U of M star will be released later this week. The Panthers' NFL website has more.
