Hope For The Redbirds? 

There may be hope for the Memphis Redbirds after all. With this year's team setting the mark as worst team in the still-young history of AutoZone Park, a few 2006 St. Louis Cardinal draft picks are making waves at Class-A. Memphis baseball fans can only hope they’re in a Redbirds uniform before the parent club packages them in a deal for a pricey big-league veteran. Read about the likes of Adam Ottavino here.

    The Memphis Business Journal is reporting that the FedExForum (and Memphis, obviously) will host NCAA regional tournaments in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, Memphis will join Boston, Indianapolis, and Glendale (AZ); in 2010, other regional host cities will be Sacramento, Dayton, and Kansas City.

    If Coach Calipari sticks around (and keeps winning) his Memphis Tigers could be playing at home for a couple of years. Not a bad deal for the university, and potential big bucks for Memphis. Sounds like a win-win to us. Read the Biz Journal story here.
