The middle three letters in the word "photo" spell "H-O-T." And hotness is what you'll find in the Flyer's annual roundup of the Bluff City's hottest men and women. Our hard-hitting reporters took time off from chasing down politicians and poring over police reports to narrow down 100 or so reader-submitted hotties to these final 14. Yes, we have tough jobs, but somebody has to do it. Since their pictures are so hot, we went with a photo-themed spread giving you not only a look at some smokin' hot people but also a behind-the-scenes look into a photo shoot. Special thanks goes out to Phil Woodard from Woodard Properties for allowing us to set up a makeshift studio inside the Calliope Room at 456 Tennessee Street downtown. (The room is available for party, event, and studio space rentals at philwoodard.com.)

Editor's Note: As we've done for the past several years, we're raising money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Memphis by voting for King and Queen Hottie. Each vote costs $5 and goes directly to this great charity. Voting runs through midnight on February 20th.

Paul Garner found his true calling while occupying Civic Center Plaza last year with Occupy Memphis. That's when he began working with some of the city's homeless population. These days, he works with H.O.P.E. (Homeless Organizing for Power and Equality), where he helps people experiencing homelessness to stand up for their own rights. The Memphis College of Art grad is helping H.O.P.E. members start their own T-shirt-making business.

What did you have for dinner last night?
I think I forgot to eat dinner last night.

Breakfast today?
Umm ...

Do you eat?
I haven't eaten today. Mostly just coffee.

Do you have any relationship deal-breakers?
Lack of some sort of class-consciousness is a big turnoff for me.

If you could be a celebrity for a day, who would you be?
Vincent Price. He was the master of the macabre, and I love his voice. I can't do a good Vincent Price impersonation, but if I was Vincent Price, I could.

What's the best advice you've ever received?
My dad always used to say, "There's only one way to eat an elephant. One bite at a time." Basically, you can't take on too much at once.

What do you think makes someone hot?
I like to connect with people with whom I can talk about issues that are important to me and have an engaging conversation. But big eyes aren't bad either.

What book are you reading right now?
The Huey P. Newton Reader. It's some writings of his before he got started with the Black Panthers, his letters, speeches, and thoughts on their work.

Do you work out?
No. That's for crazy people.

What would you want for your last meal?
There's a BBQ place in Shreveport called Big D's BBQ. They are home to the best BBQ in the multiverse. They have a burger named after my old punk rock band called the Noids! Burger. It's Texas toast with a hamburger patty topped with chopped beef and secret sopping sauce.

If the world were ending tomorrow, what would you do today?
I'd probably just spend the day chilling out and drinking some beers with my friends and comrades.

What's your dream vacation?
Outer space.

What are you most passionate about?
Advancing equality and dignity for working-class and poor people in Memphis.

What is your favorite Valentine's Day memory?
When I was in fourth grade, this girl gave me a chocolate Valentine. It was the first time anyone had ever done that, and it was pretty cool. But then some kids made fun of her, and she took it back. I was like, ah man.

A former sales rep for International Paper, Alexandra left her office job to further develop her cosmetics line and open the Ivory Closet, her boutique in Harbor Town Square.

Vote for Alexandra Nicole

What's your dream job?
What I'm doing now, but I want to franchise the Ivory Closet. I also want to open a coffeeshop/bookstore and a spa.

Describe a typical Saturday night.
Getting drinks with my girlfriends on the island and possibly going to one of the hotspots downtown.

What's the best advice you've ever received?
Dream like you'll live forever, but live like you'll die tomorrow.

What book are you reading right now?
The Ultimate Marketing Plan by Dan Kennedy. I don't read storybooks. I always read business books.

What's your dream vacation?
Bora Bora. I'm dying to go there.

If you won the lottery, how would you spend your winnings first?
I'd take that dream vacation, and then I'd buy a house.

What are you most passionate about?
Life and work.

What is your favorite Valentine's Day memory?
When I was in second grade, I liked a little boy. He put a Valentine in everyone's box except for me, and I thought maybe he didn't like me. And then after class, he handed me one that said, "Do you like me? Check 'yes' or 'no.'"

But even though his job takes him across the country, he loves spending time at his Harbor Town home with his wife and 2-year-old son.

Vote for Andre

Most embarrassing song on your iPod?
"I Just Can't Wait To Be King" from The Lion King.

Do you burst into song when that comes on?

What's your dream job?
Acting. I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. This lets me be everything.

What did you have for dinner?
It's embarrassing. I had hot dogs. My wife is going to kill me when she reads this.

If you could be a celebrity for a day, who would you be?
Oprah Winfrey. She says she likes something, and millions of people go out and buy it. I'd like to see what that's like for a moment.

What's your favorite Memphis restaurant?
Gus's. That chicken is addictive. I avoid driving by Gus's, because I know I'll stop if I do.

What would you want your last meal to be?
My wife's carrot cake.

What are you most passionate about?
My family.

What is your favorite Valentine's Day memory?
When I first moved to L.A., my wife and I were so broke. I saved up enough money to take us to Chili's. It took me about a month to save up. So it's a tradition now, every Valentine's Day, we go to Chili's. And there's never a wait. It's not a big hotspot for Valentine's Day.
