Jerry West is Headed to Finland

No, we don't think he's moving there, even though he's selling his Memphis house. But a note we've received from a Finnish sports writer seems to indicate The Logo is still on the job:

"Grizzlies team president Jerry West is coming to Finland next Monday (February 5th). He will see the Finnish league game Espoon Honka vs. Torpan Pojat and scout the 18-year-old Finnish point guard Petteri Koponen of Honka.

"One more thing of interest: Last season in a Torpan Pojat-Espoon Honka game Dennis Rodman played for Torpan Pojat (28 minutes, 17 points, 6 rebounds). Honka won that one."

The letter was from one Harri Mannonen, a freelance writer from Kouvola, Finland, so we can't vouch for how accurate this information is, but it does suggest Jerry isn't, uh, Finnished.

And we can't verify this either, but we hear Koponen's nickname is "Whitey McWhiterson, the Finnish Lutefisk."
