    The Memphis Grizzlies introduced three new players — rookies Rudy Gay, Kyle Lowry, and Alexander Johnson — at a press conference Tuesday morning. Then said goodbye to another young player — second year point guard Anthony Roberson. Waiving Roberson, who struggled playing point guard in the summer league, was a bit of a surprise.   • DeAngelo Gets Tackled

    On his first official carry in the NFL, DeAngelo Williams slammed into a pack of giant NFL linemen and picked up a modest 3 yards. At the bottom of the pile, the Carolina Panthers rookie running back admitted a small wave of NFL nostalgia shot through his body.

    “All I was thinking to myself was, ‘Wow, I just got the football playing for the Panthers and I just got tackled by a guy from the Buffalo Bills,’” Williams said. “That felt great — to realize I’m playing at this level.” Go here, to read about how the former Tiger great's debut went in Panther Land.
