Keith Sykes' Songwriters' Showcase at Gibson Lounge Saturday Night

Memphis songwriter Keith Sykes, along with renowned tunesmiths Richard Leigh and Roger Cook, will bring back his Songwriter's Showcase to the Gibson Lounge tonight.

Sykes made a name for himself as a guitarist/songwriter/producer, contributing to projects from artists as diverse as Jimmy Buffett, John Prine, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, Todd Snider, Rosanne Cash and Patty Loveless. Keith also co-wrote what was to become the Parrot-head anthem, "Volcano" for Jimmy Buffet.

Leigh received a GRAMMY for Best Country Song for "Don't it Make My Brown Eyes Blue?" and has written songs for The Dixie Chicks, Crystal Gayle, Billy Dean, Mickey Gilley, Kathy Mattea, Reba McEntire, Steve Wariner, and Don Williams.

Cook has written hit songs for Elton John, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Bing Crosby, John Prine, and Bonnie Raitt. "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress“ performed by The Hollies, "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" performed by The New Seekers, and "One Night At A Time,“ performed by George Strait, are just a few of his more memorable songs.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Show time is at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale at musictoday.com, in the Gibson Retail Store, or on the day of the show at the door for $20. For more information call the Gibson Lounge at 544-7998.
