Nightshade Manor Haunted House

When: Oct. 8-31 2009
Price: $12 or $10 with donation of two nonperishable food items for the Mid-South Food Bank

If you thought the health-care-reform town-hall meetings were scary, you haven’t been inside “Nightshade Manor.”

Boasting 18 bone-chilling rooms, 30 actors ready to shock patrons, and creepy sound and lighting effects, this haunted attraction makes death panels seem tame. Located in an abandoned Midtown warehouse, “Nightshade” runs October 8th through October 31st. Bring two canned goods for the Mid-South Food Bank for a ticket discount.

The “Hauntedweb of Horrors” on Germantown Parkway, which also runs October 8th-31st, offers two haunted attractions in one location. “Dark Matter” is described as “a labyrinth of darkness and psychedelic matter that will challenge your senses and send chills up your spine.” In “Tormented,” patrons explore an insane asylum turned hillbilly hell. Proceeds from the “Hauntedweb” benefit Youth Villages.

Claustrophobic? “Terror at 2596” in Bartlett features a two-acre outdoor haunted walk. It runs October 9th-November 1st. Or, explore the creepy cornfields at Jones Orchard at “The Trail of Terror,” October 2nd-31st.

“It’s too difficult to say that one haunt is better than another,” says “Nightshade Manor”’s Jeff Hanover. “After all, each haunt has its own style, pace, and thematic approach. We all know that the best measure of success lies in whether or not your customers scream.” — Bianca Phillips
