Paula Deen, the Food Network star, was the recent subject of a McSweeney’s parody imagining her teaching a pole-dancing class. (Sample: “WRAP your body around the pole — that’s right, just wrap yourself around it like a slice of bacon ’round an ear of sweet corn. Good, y’all!”) It’s a fine example of the sheer force of Deen’s celebrity pull.
