Four distinctive but complementary bands will come together this week to benefit a trio of distinctive but complementary charities. The bands: Longtime regional faves the Gabby Johnson Band (pictured) entertains crowds with a muscular spin on roots-rock; Inner 61 is a commercial modern-rock band with a subtle metal tinge; the Dirt Brothers are a swaggering country-rock band that would sound right at home opening for Toby Keith or Montgomery Gentry; and the Jeff Scheetz Band plays funky blues-rock. The charities: Reel Recovery, which organizes fly-fishing retreats for men recovering from cancer; Healing Waters Fly Fishing, which does similar work on behalf of disabled active-duty military or veterans; and Casting for Recovery, which works on behalf of breast cancer patients. The event, Reel Aid, takes place at Minglewood Hall Friday, August 7th. Start time is 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 the week of the show. There will also be a silent auction. — Chris Herrington
