Cohen came off as a total sell-out. What was up with that mea culpa from Steve? And what was up with that baldhawk when he was on the House Floor?

Other notable community organizers: Adolf Hitler, Fidel Castro, Osama Bin Laden

More notable community organizers: Millard and Linda Fuller (Habitat For Humanity), Michael Brown and Alan Khazei (City Year), and locally, Phillip McCaull (Hands On Memphis). What a bunch of selfless, service-minded, community loving bastards.

Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are community organizers as well, but they can't hold a candle to MLK or Jesus. I guess we can all just assume that Cohen should stick to being a statesman and leave the bumper sticker slogans to the people selling bumper sticker. He is as ridiculous as lipstick on a pig.

Cohen didn't coin the phrase "community organizer"...he was merely responding to Republican attacks against Obama's experience, or lack thereof, as a community organizer...as if being someone who organizes a community for the betterment of the community is a bad thing. He was simply illustrating the point that other figures that are near and dear to the heart of conservatives (Jesus for example, despite Chris Matthews' idiotic and repeated insistence that Jesus was just a carpenter) were community organizers. His reference to Pilate and his role as a governor was meant to counter the Republicans' insistence that Palin's experience as a governor makes her more qualified than a mere community organizer. I'm not a fan of Steve Cohen, but I thought it was a pretty good analogy and I got his point...unfortunately it seems to have been lost on those people who are either too sensitive or too boneheadedly dense to understand what he was saying...all they heard was "Jesus" and got all pissy about it. To his credit, Cohen took responsibility for what he said and apologized for any offense. Let's get over it and move on to the next media-fabricated and overblown outrage.

The bitterness in Washington is certainly attributable to both parties. This is what our government has come to in the building where there is supposed to be respect and some sort of refinement in process. Cohen's comments sure didn't help.

When you say something you shouldn't say. You don't say I misspoke, you don't say it was interpreted badly. You say I shouldn't have said that. Steve said "i shouldn't have said that". nuff said..except for calling Clyde an idiot. Clyde you are an idiot.

  • GADFLY: "Barack, Call Me!"

So what is the real (i.e., subliminal) message in John McCain's new ad, flashing trollops like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton on the screen alongside the image of Barack Obama? And why did he pick two flashy, sexually-charged, blonde white women to throw in our face as emblematic of what he wants us to believe is Obama's empty suit syndrome? The Gadfly thinks he knows.
