Why exactly did the Rockets trade for Shane Battier? That's the gist of one of the questions in Houston Rocket beat writer Damien Pierce’s mailbag this week. If we were answering, we might start with: a dose of dignity, hard-nosed play, versatility on the floor, class in the locker room, a community presence, marketability, articulate interview, not to mention he'll be a PR bonanza for the Rockets if, as he should, he makes Team USA.
