If you want to see and bid on some great old pieces of Memphis history, like the vanity from Elvis apartment at Lauderdale Courts, check out today s Memphis Heritage Auction and Preview. The free preview, from 4 to 6 p.m., is at the Lofts on Tennessee Street, where you can also tour a furnished model apartment and check out the view from the rooftop deck with its swimming pool and sauna. The auction itself is 6-10 p.m. next door at the old Tennessee Brewery building, and you must have tickets. There s a Gandhi Institute Fund-raiser at Rhodes College tonight with an auction and live music by Becc Lester and Hank Sable. Patti LaBelle is at Silverstar Casino; Martina McBride is at Horseshoe; and Bobby Womack, Shirley Brown, and Bennie Latimore are at the Grand. And here at home, The Subteens and Morning 40 Federation are at Young Avenue Deli. And Eighty Katie and Roger! Houston are at Earnestine & Hazel s.
