Cows rarely make the news, but when it's a sea cow -- better known as a manatee -- that has somehow made its way to Memphis from the Gulf of Mexico, well, that's a whole 'nother story.

For days, Memphians are captivated by the saga of "Manny" and wait impatiently for a crew from Sea World to return the lost creature to its native habitat. The thousand-pound mammal somehow eludes all attempts to be captured, suggesting it decided to go home. Either that, or we'll be hearing about Mud Island Monster sightings for years to come.

The Parisian store in Collierville's Avenue Carriage Crossing shopping center announces it will close after being in business barely a year. No surprise there. The language barrier was always a problem. You know how those French are.

Fans hoped it would somehow remain in Memphis, but the owners of the old Zippin Pippin roller coaster announce they have sold the former Libertyland landmark to an amusement park in North Carolina. We are still stunned at the amazingly low purchase price -- just $2,500 at the Libertyland auction, since all the bidders wanted was one of the cars. Good grief, the wood alone was worth about 10 times that.

Four bugs are found in the Shelby County Homeland Security offices. These aren't crickets or cockroaches, either -- they are crude listening devices. Tapes of whatever it is they heard have somehow made their way to Fox 13 News, which plans to broadcast them. Stay tuned.

In a national survey of America's most dangerous cities, Memphis comes in at number 13. Certainly not great, but at least we're not considered the most dangerous place of all: St. Louis. It's true -- just ask those poor Detroit Tigers.
