Memphis wasn’t too goody-two-shoes to turn away The People vs. Larry Flynt, a major motion picture about the publisher of Hustler. But no sooner was it announced that Mr. Skin wanted to open a Hustler-themed restaurant on Beale than Memphis’ morality wags got down to the business of carping.
Before anyone gets too bent out of shape over this development, it should be noted that Flynt’s Hustler store on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood is famous for much more than the big nasty. They offer a magnificent whipped-cream-laden, banana-flavored milkshake called “The Ron Jeremy,” and they provide visitors to nearby clubs like the Viper Room and the Whiskey a Go-Go with the best corporate coffee shop this side of Starbucks.
