The Grizzlies Tip Off Tonight

The Memphis Grizzlies got their preseason started with a 75-69 win against the Houston Rockets last night. The team’s home preseason debut is tonight at FedExForum against the Atlanta Hawks. The game, which tips at 7 p.m., isn’t televised, but if you make your way down to the building here are some things to watch for: How does rookie Rudy Gay look against NBA competition? Does point guard Damon Stoudamire seem fully recovered from off-season knee surgery? Does second year forward Hakim Warrick seem better acclimated to the NBA game? Is Atlanta rookie forward Shelden Williams (picked 5th overall out of Duke) really 40 picks better than Grizzlies rookie forward Alexander Johnson (picked 45th overall, out of Florida State) even though they’re roughly the same size and Johnson outplayed Williams in college? How does former Griz center Lorenzen Wright look in an Atlanta uniform? All those questions and many more start getting answered tonight.

And to get you in the roundball mood, here are five fun facts on the Griz — Chris Herrington
