WMC newsguy and blogger Darrell Phillips thinks Councilman Joe Brown's declaration of "Marriage Week" in Memphis was an "accidental rebuke" of some prominent local pols. Given this excerpt from the proclamation, that sounds about right:
"WHEREAS, mounting scientific evidence confirms that our children suffer from broken marriages and children raised outside of marriage are more likely to commit crime, fail at school and on the job, abuse drugs, lapse into physical and mental illness, become teen parents, suffer material deprivation and become victims of child abuse ..."
