The Staple Singers

Bringing soul to social consciousness, the Staple Singers created enduring classics such as "Respect Yourself" and "I'll Take You There." Roebuck "Pops" Staples formed the group with his children Cleotha, Pervis, Yvonne, and Mavis, and in 1968, they signed to Stax Records and created classic gospel, soul, and R&B at the label. Their inspiring music is commemorated in a brass note on the Beale Street Walk of Fame.
