They're Baa-a-a-ck: Davis and Laettner Still Trying to Buy the Griz

Just when we thought we were done with the Brian Davis/Christian Laettner ordeal, those shallow-pocketed but ever persistent would-be Griz owners pull us back in, at least according to ESPN.com’s Chris Broussard, who is reporting this morning that the Davis/Laettner group has submitted a bid to purchase the Grizzlies to the NBA league offices.
Perhaps we were wrong to doubt them — after all, didn’t we know they went to Duke? Duke! Don’t you know how smart you have to be to go to Duke?
As before, the local minority ownership group led by J.R. “Pitt” Hyde and Staley Cates would still have the right to match, even if Davis’ bid does materialize as a legitimate offer, so it seems as if there are still plenty of twists left in this story. Stay tuned for more details.
