Viva South Main

Attendees of this month's Art Trolley Tour on South Main will no doubt be seeing red. And, by red, I mean redheads. The theme for the evening is "Elvis," and in addition to a tribute concert and a screening of Elvis: That's the Way It Is, there will be an Elvis' Leading Ladies Look-a-Like Contest, and I predict a sea of Ann-Margrets. Imagine it: Girls and guys (!) in curve-hugging clothes making like Viva Las Vegas' Rusty Martin, one of the rwror-iest love interests in the Elvis oeuvre.

Of course, there are other leading-lady routes to pursue. Leggy types might consider taking the Juliet Prowse role of Lili in G.I. Blues, and those into costume dramas always have Debra Paget as Cathy in the Civil War-era Love Me Tender. Other options: Raquel Welch (Roustabout), Ursula Andress (Fun in Acapulco), and Memphis' own Stella Stevens (Girls! Girls! Girls!).

Here's one final idea that's perfect for the multi-tasker: Grab a nun's habit and go both as Mary Tyler Moore in Change of Habit and as Delores Hart, Elvis' co-star in Loving You and King Creole. After 10 films, Hart, in fact, ditched Hollywood to become a nun.
