Volunteers To Help Blind Mississippi Morris Saturday

Memphis Heritage is leading a volunteer effort on Saturday to help clean up the home of musician Blind Mississippi Morris Cummings.

After Cummings received an eviction notice on his Chelsea home in June, community leaders vowed to help the bluesman. The home needs an estimated $70,000 to $90,000 in repairs.

On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., volunteers will clean the attic, basement, and yard. The goal is to complete the work in a day.

Those interested in participating in the clean-up should contact Memphis Heritage at 272-2727.
