What Are the Grizzlies Worth to Memphis? 

Ah, to see ourselves as others see us. Brian Hendrickson, a reporter for The Columbian, a Washington state newspaper, analyzes, for better or worse, the Grizzlies impact on Downtown Memphis and on our community at large. Hendrickson relates the issue to a debate raging in Portland about the civic need to support — or not — the financially floundering Portland Trail Blazers. The not so surprising verdict from the Memphians he spoke to: The Grizzlies are great! A quote from Chamber of Commerce head John Moore: "I would class it as, if you had something in your skyline and took it out, it would be very noticeable," Moore said.
