In 2023, MLK50 and the Memphis Flyer started a unique collaboration. We gave you, our readers, a chance to control what questions we asked candidates for Memphis City Mayor, then published their responses in “You Asked, They Answered.” The program was such a success, we decided to do it again for the 2026 Shelby County mayoral election.

Here’s how it works: Go the form linked below and tell us the single most pressing question you have for the candidates vying to be the next mayor of Shelby County. Then, if you’ve got time, we’re also soliciting questions about the candidates attitudes towards the future of Shelby County government buildings, the Memphis Safe Task Force, juvenile justice, community services, health services, and housing.

Once we’ve collected the questions, we will distill the most popular queries into a questionaire which will be sent to all candidates for Shelby County Mayor in the May 5, 2026 primary election. The questions and answers will then be published by both the Memphis Flyer and MLK50 before the May 5, 2026 election to help you make an informed choice about who will govern our county for the next four years.
