At Friday’s “Fashion Forecast” runway show, you may be asked, “Who
are you wearing?” And if all goes as planned, the next time you’re
asked that same question, you’ll answer, “Yendry Alvord” or perhaps
“Patrick Henry” or maybe “Damien Witherspoon of Davine Prodigy.”

“Fashion Forecast” was created to promote mostly local up-and-coming
designers, and Alvord, Henry, and Witherspoon are three whose looks,
for both men and women, will be showcased. There also will be fashion
from stores such as Wink, Joseph, and Sneak Peek. All designs will be
available for purchase at the event.
“Fashion Forecast” was put into motion by Tajuan Givens, the wife of
party and concert promoter Curtis Givens. Once the idea was in place,
the next step was to partner with a nonprofit. They chose Dress for
Success, which provides professional attire to women in need who are in
the job market. “It was a great hook-up for both us,” says Wendy
Layborn, an assistant to Mr. Givens. According to Layborn, they’re
planning to hold the event annually with a different nonprofit partner
each year.
The designs on the runway will be geared to the 25 to 35 set with an
eye for the latest fashions. “Very classy” is how Layborn describes it.
“It will be an elegant event.”
“Fashion Forecast,” Friday, May 15th, at Le Pavillon (1052
Brookfield). A cocktail party kicks off the evening at 7 p.m.; the
fashion show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 for general admission,
and VIP tickets are $50.
