Each week, I receive an email from a website called Memphisgasprices.com. Here’s this week’s message:
Average retail gasoline prices in Memphis have risen 1.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.74/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.90/g, according to gasoline price website MemphisGasPrices.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Memphis during the past week, prices yesterday were 81.3 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 5.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 7.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 84.3 cents per gallon higher than this day a year ago.

Suffice it to say, with events in the Gulf and summer coming soon, it’s probably not going to be happy times at the pump for the next few months.
