Grizzlies Top Spurs in First Win of 2026

The Memphis Grizzlies edged out the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night with a 106-105 victory at FedExForum. It was the Spurs’ first loss to a Southwest division opponent this season.

Huzzah.

The Grizzlies got their first win of the year, snapped a four-game losing streak, and they also got a player back from the injured list.

Vince Williams Jr. made his return Tuesday night after missing eight games, and he immediately made his presence felt with a season-high four made three-pointers, adding 15 points off the bench.

San Antonio center Victor Wembanyama returned for the Spurs, leading their offense with 30 points off the bench.

This was a close game that came down to the final seconds, with six lead changes in the fourth quarter alone. Santi Aldama made a big play to block the Spurs’ final shot and secured a win for the Grizzlies.

Despite injuries and the absence of several players, Memphis overcame an 11-point deficit entering the third quarter, outscoring San Antonio 36-27 to take a one-point lead into the fourth.

As a team, the Grizzlies outrebounded the Spurs 61-50 and grabbed a season-high 44 defensive rebounds.

Cam Spencer had a breakout night after struggling in previous games, scoring 18 of his 21 points in the second half, including scoring the final five points of the game for the Grizzlies and giving them a one-point lead. Spencer also had a team-high eight assists.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 21 points on 7 of 16 overall shooting and 5 of 7 from beyond the arc, to go along with 9 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks.

Jock Landale added 19 points on 8 of 15 overall shooting and 3 of 7 from three-point range, plus 9 rebounds, two assists, and a block.

Vince Williams Jr. led the second unit with 15 points on 5 of 7 overall shooting and 4 of 6 from beyond the arc, and added six rebounds, and five assists.

Santi Aldama finished the night with 10 points, 9 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, including the aforementioned block in the final seconds that led to the Grizzlies’ victory.
