This year the National Civil Rights Museum will host its fourth annual Juneteenth Community Day. This day is for families and people of all ages to learn about and bring awareness to Juneteenth.

The museumโ€™s chief engagement officer, Veda Ajamu, describes the event as a day not only to get educated but also to honor the strength of the people who continued to fight for equity. Ajamu says, โ€œItโ€™s really about community and a way to bring the community together. Itโ€™s also for people to tour the museum and get educated on the history of Juneteenth.โ€

The event will have arts and crafts, entertainment, the 2024-2025 Miss Juneteenth student speaking on what Juneteenth means to her, food trucks, and fun giveaways. DJ Thriller, also a historian, will spin tunes while integrating history and facts about Juneteenth throughout the day. Baptist Memorial Health Care and Baptist Health Sciences University will also lend a health equity focus with screenings, wellness information, and resources.

This family-friendly and educational event will be held on June 19th at the National Civil Rights Museum from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The museum will have free admission all day.
