Today, the Memphis Grizzlies finalized a deal that will send forward Santi Aldama, the draft rights of Tarik Biberovic, and three future second-round picks to the Dallas Mavericks in return for center Isaiah Stewart and guards Dโ€™Angelo Russell and AJ Johnson from their respective teams.

Per the official media release from the Grizzlies communications department:

The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team acquired centerย Isaiah Stewartย from the Detroit Pistons, guardย AJ Johnsonย from the Dallas Mavericks and guardย Dโ€™Angelo Russellย from the Washington Wizards in addition to securing a conditional future first-round draft pick, three future second-round draft picks and a future second-round draft pick swap as part of a six-team trade that also included the LA Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks.

As part of the deal, Memphis traded forward Santi Aldama and the draft rights to wing Tarik Biberovic (56th overall in 2023) to Dallas and sent three future second-round picks to Detroit.

Aldama was selected as the 30th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz and immediately traded to the Grizzlies.

In his five seasons in Memphis, Aldama averaged 10.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 23.4 minutes per game.

The Spanish native played the best basketball of his career in the 2025-26 season, averaging career highs of 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds while playing an average of 27.9 minutes per game.

He has also played for the Spanish national team in the 2019 FIBA U18 European Championship, where he was named MVP, and the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket.

It’s been a pleasure watching Aldama grow into the player he is today. I wish him all the success he deserves as he begins this new chapter, except when he plays the Grizzlies.
