“I have seen a number of misinformed, silly a** posts trying to paint me as a sellout the past few days,” Memphis Mayor Paul Young posted on Facebook last week. “PY from Oakhaven wants to respond (because I have plenty to clapback with), but the God in me says to stay focused and keep doing the work.”

Young explained in a video later that the post was meant to push back on social media chatter on data centers, ICE, and the National Guard.
The MEMernet shared the orignal post more 1,200 times. The MEMernet also poured gas all over it.
“Paul Young, the thug from Oakhaven,” wrote Jennings Bernard, who posted an AI image of Young.
“Tell me we aren’t paying the MLGW bill for whatever power trip this is, too, please,” commented Devinn Schwa. “Someone take his phone away.”
“So, ya sold our city out to Elon with a suit and smile, while talk’n ‘bout whippin’ out PY from Oakhaven to anyone call’n you out on it,” Artie Sams commented. “… sounds like a sellout.”
The most Memphis burn came from Juuzou Suzuya who wrote, “they said you was slaw as hell @ Oakhaven.”
