"We've been talking about it for over 2 years," says Rebecca Severs.

Severs owns Bari with her husband Jason, and in August, the couple are planning to open Three Angels Diner at the corner of Broad and Collins in Midtown.

Those 3 angels are the Severs' sons, and an impetus for this new venture.

Rebecca says that there aren't a lot of places in Midtown that serve food that the boys would want to eat that she and Jason would want to eat as well.

A diner, with its flexible menu, made sense to the Severs. Plus, they wanted to have a place that could be open late-night to feed artist friends and comrades in the restaurant industry.

Three Angels will be open for breakfast Saturday and Sunday and for lunch and dinner and late-nights until 2 or 3 a.m.

Three Angel's menu hasn't been mapped out yet, but Rebecca says there will definitely be fried chicken and beer.

"Nothing changes at Bari," Rebecca says, explaining that since Bari is only open at night, she and Jason will be able spend the day at Three Angels and will otherwise figure out a way to split their time.

In addition, since Bari is strictly regional Italian, one thing the Severs are looking forward to at Three Angels is flexing their culinary muscles.

"For Jason and me, it's going to be fun, more creative" Rebecca says. "There are no limitations to what he can cook."

"We are so excited about our Memphis opening in early spring. It’s such an honor for all of us at Hattie B’s to be a part of the community, and we look forward to seeing our many Memphis friends and meeting new hot chicken lovers real soon," says Nick Bishop Sr., co-owner of Hattie B's Hot Chicken.
