Volunteer Meeting for Cooper-Young Farmers Market

Posted By on Tue, Mar 29, 2011 at 10:07 AM

The Cooper-Young Community Farmers Market opens April 30th, and market organizers are looking for volunteers to lend a hand.

An organizational meeting for volunteers is set for Wednesday, March 30th, at 6:30 p.m. at Otherlands (641 S. Cooper). The market needs help in many different areas, including behind-the-scene jobs such as grant writing and event planning and on-site tasks such as set-up, clean-up, and coordinating activities for children.

If you’re not sure you have the skill set to help, here’s how the market’s press release describes potential volunteers: “We welcome to our table activists, students, heavy-lifters, garden-growers, food lovers, music-makers, artists, community busy-bodies, introverts, extroverts, friends, and neighbors.”

Located in the parking lot of First Congregational Church, the market will feature fresh produce and food from local vendors every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October 29th.
