We've got your pomegranate grape-flavored Crazy Apple ($1.50 at Schnucks) ...

And your Happy Faces cookies ($1 at Walgreens).

First, about those cookies, they are made in Turkey and quite cute. Dimples!

The taste, however, is not so good.

As for the Crazy Apples, I first heard of them a few weeks ago when a coworker was ranting about the bubblegum-flavored apple. (A third flavor is tropical blast).

According to Crazy Apple's website, there's no added sugar and all flavorings are natural.

A screenshot from the site's FAQs:

I could detect just a bit of grape in the pomegranate grape Crazy Apple I tried and that's about it.

My coworker's point, and I agree, is that an apple should taste like an apple. This led to a larger discussion with another coworker about misleading packaging terms like low fat, a subject featured in a story on Chow.com last month. When the topic then turned to how people eat in France, I excused myself.
