Last year's Antenna Club reunion was a guitar smashing success and Antenna Reunion 2: Excessive Antenna! is just around the corner. (Okay, I just made up that name, but wouldn't it be great?) This year Memphis' defunct punk palace presents The Crime, The Randy Band, Neon Wheels, The Klitz, 68 Comeback, Reigning Sound, New Mary Jane, Pezz, Small Room, Recoil, Linda Heck & The Train Wreck, Fluorescent Butt Jam, Distemper, Four Neat Guys, Barking Dog, Sobering Consequences, Soul Capitalist, Gasoline Grace, and the Psychic Plowboys

Things are slated to kick off on July 29th with a meet and greet at the Buccaneer. The bands play on July 30th and 31st at Nocturnal (the Antenna for a night once again) and at The Hi- Tone.

I caught a sneak peek of things to come at Murphy's a few weeks back when The Crime played a tight, totally satisfying set at Murphy's following a show by the Everyday Parade. It happened to be on the one night I was out without a recording device of some sort. Thankfully Memphis DJ and drummer Greg Roberson was on hand and in the mood to take pictures.

Last year's reunion was an affirming moment for the sunshine-deprived Memphis underground. It marked a full-fledged return to rock for Linda Heck, who lives on the other side of the state these days, but is in Memphis often playing a lot of different venues.
