MFW 2014 Emerging Memphis Designer Project

Posted By on Thu, Mar 13, 2014 at 2:20 PM

Presenting the 2014 selection of emerging designers showing their designs at this year’s Memphis Fashion Week.

“The EMDP is about celebrating local designers and their individuality. Seeing how different each collection is shows how much Memphis has to offer in this area. These designers have worked very hard on their collections and they’ve all been executed beautifully,” says MFW Director Abby Phillips.

Last September, Memphis Fashion Week kicked off the Emerging Memphis Designer Project for the second year offering local designers an opportunity to show their work to a wider audience and possibly launch their fashion career. Out of over 30 submissions, these 15 designers were selected to create looks specifically for Memphis Fashion Week. On Saturday, March 29, these emerging designers will present their custom collection. For most of them, it will be the first time on any runway.

Memphis Fashion Week is March 27-29. For more details on the designers and all events or to buy tickets, visit

Shoot Location: Mural by Guillaume Alby in Overton Square. Special thanks to Loeb Properties. Models: Peyton Couch (AMAX), Rebecca Todd (AMAX), and Jasmine Settle.

As part of Memphis Fashion Week, Indie Memphis will screen fashion-industry-related films in March: Ultra Suede in Search of Halston on March 18, and Bill Cunningham New York on March 25.

The films will be shown at 7 pm at Malco’s Studio on the Square. The ticket price for each film is $7with a special three-film package available for $15. There will be no admission charge for Indie Memphis members or for Fashion Week ticket holders.
