Stacey Campfield Confirms What We Already Knew ...

... Namely, that lots of Tennessee's GOP legislators are racist tools who "don't give a rat's ass" about common decency.

Covering the Big Wind in Tampa

Posted By on Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 2:22 PM

As has been the Flyer's custom every four years since 1992, we will be covering the national political party conventions — the GOP in Tampa and the Dems in Charlotte.

Senior Editor Jackson Baker and reporter Chris Davis will head to Tampa next week. They will hopefully avoid getting blown away by Hurricane Isaac, and offer daily reportage on Memphisflyer.com and in the paper the following week.

As the photo below (taken in 2004 at the GOP convention in New York) makes clear, Baker and Davis are pros at this sort of thing. Rest assured your convention coverage will be in good hands.

Why is Tennessee so Humid, Fat, and Stupid?

Posted By on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 12:19 PM

I stumbled across an interesting article on the Internet today. Seems a slightly bored but inquisitive young woman decided to see what Google "thought" about various states in the U.S. Her "research" consisted of typing into the Google search bar the following phrase: "Why is (any state name) so ..."

The results are semi-fascinating. Tennessee, as you might have guessed from the headline, didn't do so well.

Read it all here.

Chick-Fil-A Irony Alert

Posted By on Wed, Aug 1, 2012 at 8:27 PM

South Carolina senator Lindsay Graham shows his support for "Let's Eat Chick-Fil-A to Show Our Hatred of the Gays Day." Looks a little uncomfortable, doesn't he? Can't imagine why.

On the other hand, these two look entirely comfortable.
