A Win/Lose Situation

Posted By on Fri, Apr 21, 2006 at 4:00 AM

Congratulations to International Paper for its win at Thursday night’s 15th Annual Corporate Spelling Bee, a fund-raiser for the Memphis Literacy Council sponsored by The Commercial Appeal. Kudos too to one member of the the CA's team, film critic John Beifuss, who placed in an audience-wide individual spelling contest. His prize? A two-year subscription to The Commercial Appeal.

The Flyer also had a dog in the fight. We went down on “animadversion,” defined as adverse criticism. Which is not what we're doing right now. Congrats to all and we hope the Literary Council made buckets of dough.
