Bill Heard Chevrolet Dealerships Sued by State of Georgia

Posted By on Wed, Jul 11, 2007 at 4:00 AM

The state of Georgia is suing the Bill Heard Chevrolet Dealership for fraudulent business practices.

According to the suit, filed by the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs, roughly 10,000 car owners received an urgent recall notice on their General Motors vehicles last October. The mailing wasn’t from GM, however, nor was there any recall. The consumer affairs office alleges that the mailing was meant to trick car owners into believing their vehicles were unsafe and luring them into buying new cars or adding service plans on their vehicles.

The lawsuit proposes a fine of $5,000 for each of the mailings, which could mean as much as $50 million. Or more than 1,000 Chevy Silverados.

Bill Heard operates 14 Chevrolet dealerships, including one in Collierville. Read more about it here.
