Women's Athletics Pioneer Roane Dies

MEMPHIS, TENN. —- Elma Neal Roane, who was the foundation of women’s athletics at the University of Memphis, passed away at 6 p.m. on Monday evening following a long illness. She was 93.

Visitation will be held in the main gymnasium of the Elma Roane Fieldhouse on the U of M campus on Thursday from 4 p.m. — 7 p.m. Funeral services for Ms. Roane will be held Friday at 1 p.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery located at 5668 Poplar Avenue.
