Tiger senior Shaq Goodwin will enter the 2015-16 season needing just 44 points to become the 50th member of the program's 1,000-point club. Last season, no Memphis player scored his 1,000th career point. When was the last time the U of M went two consecutive seasons without a player joining this exclusive scorer's club?

No Tiger joined the 1,000-point club during the 1996-97 or 1997-98 seasons. Lorenzen Wright scored his 1,000th point late in his sophomore (and final) season with Memphis, on March 8, 1996. The next Tiger to reach 1,000 points, ironically, also needed just two seasons to do so: Omar Sneed (February 13, 1999).

Last week's NBA draft was the third in a row without a former Memphis Tiger selected. Since 1970, there has only been one drought as long. When was it, and who was the Tiger finally selected to end the dry spell?

No Tiger was selected for four four years, from the 1998 draft through 2001. (Cedric Henderson was chosen by Cleveland in the second round in 1997.) In 2002, Dajuan Wagner was chosen with the sixth pick by the Cavaliers after playing a single season with Memphis (and leading the Tigers to the NIT championship).
