ABC24/CW30 are holding an American Idol-like audition to fill its traffic reporter slot for its morning news program. The slot was vacated earlier this month by Joey Hadley.
From the press release issued by the station:
“A panel of judges will evaluate all auditions, American Idol style. Candidates will create a short traffic report using a Memphis street map and report information concerning accidents and construction delays.
“Candidates with the best auditions will earn invitations to the Eyewitness News Everywhere studios for a second audition, using all of the computer and graphics systems used on Eyewitness News This Morning.
“The top candidates will have their auditions placed on MyEyewitnessNews.com, YouTube, and air on Eyewitness News Everywhere newscasts. Viewers will be able to submit comments and critiques. Finalists will be eliminated daily, through May, until the final candidate is announced on Eyewitness News Everywhereยs 10:00 p.m. newscast on Wednesday, May 23rd.”
Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 28th at Parmasters. For more information, go the contest site RUGoodEnough.org.
