Community organizations and leaders will host a summit focused on protecting voting rights and community-based safety.
The Memphis Power Summit will convene on Saturday, March 14 at BRIDGES, USA located at 477 North 5th Street. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
Now in its third year, the summit features workshops and networking opportunities to help participants learn organizing skills, expand their network across the city and state, and get involved.
โAt a time when federal task forces and National Guard deployments continue to shape life in our city, itโs more important than ever to organize locally, protect our voting rights, and defend our freedoms,โ event organizers said.
The schedule is packed with a number of sessions with topics focused on restorative justice, tenant screening protections, organizing under occupation, and more.
Participating groups include Stand for Children Tennessee, ACLU-TN, Memphis For All, United Way, Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope (MICAH), Protect Our Aquifer, Votes for All, Free the 901, Votes for All, BLDG Memphis, Shelby County Voter Alliance (SCVA), Vecindarios 901, Latino Memphis, Raphah Institute, Organize Tennessee, Multicultural Progressive South, and Young, Gifted, and Green
โRight now, people are looking for ways to turn concern into meaningful action,โ Cardell Orrin, executive director for Stand For Children Tennessee, said. โ The Memphis Power Summit is where advocates come together to connect across movements, build strategy, and plug into the work happening across Memphis and Tennessee.โ
